recent roll: Richmond, VA; Robert E. Lee Memorial

These photos were taken the day after the Robert E. Lee memorial in Richmond, VA was bombed with graffiti. It was beautiful witnessing the community re-purpose this memorial to serve as a site for #BLM vigils, rally points, and demonstrations. The community came out to set up BBQ grills, speakers, and provide water and snacks to the cities activists. It was love <3

” …needless to say they didn’t manage to get a single “FUCK” off. “

The morning after, I returned to take some sunrise shots and encountered two women attempting to scrub the monument clean. They were greeted by onlookers; some who stayed silent and others who questioned their motives. I stayed around for a while to watch their progress, needless to say they didn’t manage to get a single “FUCK” off.

Taken on Kodak Portra 400 & Gold 200
